Protecting your skin when on a safari
When on a safari your first concern may be your safety from the animals such as Lions or Rhinos, but more people suffer injuries or discomfort from the small insects or even vegetation.
You need to carefully consider what you are going to wear when going on a safari holiday as you will need to be cool but also keep well covered. Insects may not intentionally want to hurt you but they will if they are trying to defend themselves.
Vegetation can also irritate the skin as sometimes you may accidentally brush against it and it can cause discomfort from the little hairs on their leaves. Stepping on thorns or sharp twigs can also cause a lot of discomfort and put a bit of a damper on you holiday.
Foot wear is vital on a safari holiday, hurting your feet can put a hold on your whole holiday and make the next few days and weeks miserable. Make sure that you wear appropriate footwear that not only protects your feet from insects but also supports your ankles if doing a lot of walking and that has grip. This may sound obvious, but so many people wear shoes on safari with little or no grip and struggle to get in and out of the game vehicles.
