Taking young children on a safari holiday – yes or no?
Many families love to take holidays together. Often, especially if both parents work, it is the only opportunity they have to all spend quality time together. If you quite fancy a safari holiday but are unsure as to if you should take children along then you may want to read the brief guide below.
There is nothing more exciting than being in a new country, experience new cultures and getting up close to some of the world’s most magnificent wildlife, but if venturing with children, especially young children, there are some very careful considerations that should be taken in to account.
Firstly you need to check for age restrictions within certain camps. Many camps allow children and in fact welcome them, giving them the opportunity to participate in child friendly activities, but some, especially the “wild camps” stipulate the child must be over the age of 12.
Even the vehicles used on a safari are often age restricted partly due to the safety aspect but also because often you will need to be patient and quiet to get the best possible views of the animals, this is something that many toddlers will struggle with.
