Holiday insurance for the older generation

Some holiday makers are turning their backs on the traditional beach holiday abroad and are instead opting for adventure holidays instead. This has become true particularly for the older generation as they may want to try something new and exciting. It is for some people an opportunity to explore a range of activities such as taking a safari in South Africa or  visiting the ancient temples of India however to prevent the need for costly medical bills in the case of illness or accident it is important that adequate travel insurance is arranged before travel.

After the age of sixty-five travel insurance premiums increase but it is unwise to travel without insurance as medical costs can be astronomical if you find yourself injured whilst on holiday.

Pre-existing medical conditions should be declared when applying for cover but as long as the conditions are stable most insurance companies will still provide cover at an additional premium.

It is vital that you check the activities that you will be participating in against your policy so that you are covered. If this is not the case, then specific activities can be added as an extra and is not usually too expensive when done at the time of taking out your insurance.
