Hunting Safaris
Hunting safaris have been happening for years but recently they have come under scrutiny after a dentist from America posted a picture of him stood by a lion that he had shot and the lion turned out to have been protected by the conservation. The lion was well known is South Africa and had allegedly been lured out of the protection area to allow the dentist, who had paid £35,000 to shot the animal. Not only de he shot the lion but then left it for nearly 48 hours until they actually killed it, leaving no doubt that this animal suffered.
The people that run the hunting safaris have claimed that they put a lot of money in to the conservation areas and therefore if they didn’t arrange the shooting trips, many of the areas would not remain open.
Since the dentist story has emerged, many more are now cropping up with people using social media to display their “trophy” animals that they shot on an African safari hunt.
