Staying safe on a safari holiday in Africa
Safari holidays are generally thought to be quite safe, despite the number of wild animals you may come in to contact with, these trips are usually very well organised and thought out. This is mostly due to the fact that the tour guides and staff members at the safari resorts keep safety at the forefront of their mind at all times and many have years of experience in safari trips and handing wildlife alongside members of the public. The guides always know where to go and where not to go as well as looking out for signs that animals are not happy or feeling vulnerable and therefore likely to attack.
If you are planning a trip to Africa for a safari holiday then often it is not the wildlife that should be your main concern. The crime rate is quite high in Africa and therefore it is safety when in the towns etc that you need to be aware of more so than when on the safari trip. Unfortunately there has been some awful incidents of late where people have been followed from the airports and then mugged at gun point. To try and avoid any such situations you need to plan ahead. Book all travel with a reputable company and be sure to listen to and adhere to the advice from your tour guide or holiday rep. Do not wonder off in to areas you do not know without checking if they are safe first.
